Installing Office for the first time
Some Office 2016 and Office 2013 products come with a product key. If yours did, before installing Office for the first time, sign in with an existing or new Microsoft account and enter your product key at office.com/setup. Redeeming your key is what links your account with Office so you only have to do this once. Already did this? Select the tab below for the version you're trying to install.
Reinstalling Office
If Office originally came pre-installed and you need to reinstall on it on the same device or a new device, you should already have a Microsoft account associated with your copy of Office. Note: The steps to install the 2016 or 2013 versions of Office Professional Plus, Office Standard, or a stand-alone app such as Word or Project might be different if you got Office through one of the following:
Microsoft HUP: If you bought Office for personal use through your company, see Install Office through HUP.
Volume license versions: IT departments might use a different method to install Office for their organization. Talk to your IT department for install help.
Third-party seller: You bought Office from a third-party and you're having problems with the product key.
Sign in to download Office
Go to your Microsoft account portal and if you're not already signed in, select Sign in.
Sign in with the Microsoft account you associated with this version of Office.

On Services and subscriptions, find the Office product you want to install and select Install.
To install Office in a different language, or to install the 64-bit version, select the link Other options. Choose the language and bit version you want, and then select Install.
Install Office 2016 on a PC
Remember a one-time purchase version of Office is licensed for one install only.
Note: If you're running Windows 10 S, you may be taken to the Microsoft Store app. If that happens, follow the installation steps in Install or reinstall Office from the Microsoft Store instead.
Depending on your browser, select Run (in Edge or Internet Explorer), Setup (in Chrome), or Save File (in Firefox).
If you see the User Account Control prompt that says, Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device? select Yes.
The install begins.
Your install is finished when you see the phrase, 'You're all set! Office is installed now' and an animation plays to show you where to find Office applications on your computer. Select Close.
Follow the instructions in the window to find your Office apps. For example depending on your version of Windows, select Start and then scroll to find the app you want to open such as Excel or Word, or type the name of the app in the search box.

Activate Office
Start using an Office application right away by opening any app such as Word or Excel. Can't find Office after installing?
In most cases, Office is activated once you start an application and after you agree to the License terms by selecting Accept.
Office might activate automatically. However, depending on your product you might see the Microsoft Office Activation Wizard. If so, follow the prompts to activate Office.

Install Office 2016 on a Mac
Once the download has completed, open Finder, go to Downloads, and double-click Microsoft_Office_2016_Installer.pkg (the name might vary slightly).
Tip: If you see an error that says the Microsoft_Office_2016_Installer.pkg can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer, wait 10 seconds and then try double-clicking the installer package again. If you're stuck at the Verifying…. progress bar, close or cancel the progress bar and try again.
On the first installation screen, select Continue to begin the installation process.
Review the software license agreement, and then click Continue.
Select Agree to agree to the terms of the software license agreement.
Choose how you want to install Office and click Continue.
Review the disk space requirements or change your install location, and then click Install.
Note: If you want to only install specific Office apps and not the entire suite, click the Customize button and uncheck the programs you don't want.
Enter your Mac login password, if prompted, and then click Install Software. (This is the password that you use to log in to your Mac.)

Launch an Office for Mac app and start the activation process
Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock to display all of your apps.
Click the Microsoft Word icon in the Launchpad.

Yes, you can install and use Office 2016 for Mac and Office for Mac 2011 at the same time. However, we recommend that you uninstall Office for Mac 2011 before you install the new version just to prevent any confusion.

Install Office 2013 on a PC
To begin the installation, depending on your browser, click Run (in Edge or Internet Explorer), Setup (in Chrome), or Save File (in Firefox).
When you see 'You're good to go', choose All done.
Start using an Office application right away by opening any app such as Word or Excel. In most cases, Office is activated once you start an application and after you click Accept to agree to the Microsoft Office License Agreement.

Outlook 2013 is one of the most powerful email clients on the market today, but without adding your email accounts to it, all it can do is just sit there and look pretty. Most people today have multiple email accounts that need a home. This is where Outlook 2013 shines. You can add all of your various email accounts to Outlook 2013 with ease.
There are two ways to add accounts to Outlook 2013: automatic and manual. Below, I walk you through each method.
The Automatic Way
Who doesn’t like easy, right?
The first, and obviously easiest way to add accounts to Outlook 2013 is the automatic method. This method works best with the most popular
email services like Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail as well as email used in corporate settings like Microsoft Exchange or Office 365.
TIP: As of Outlook 2013, Microsoft Exchange 2003 is no longer supported. This means that if your company is still on Exchange 2003, this just won’t work. You will need to use IMAP or POP setup.
To add a new email account to Outlook 2013, just go to the FILE tab in the Outlook 2013 Ribbon, and click Add Account.
The Add Account window will appear. Here, you enter the following information:
- Your name as you want it to appear in outgoing emails
- The email address you would like to add
- The password you currently use for this email address
- The password you entered above, for verification
Click Next to continue, which may bring up a security alert depending on the version of Windows you are using. Click the Yes button to continue.
Outlook 2013 will now search for your email server and automatically input the proper settings for you. If Outlook 2013 does this correctly, you
will get a Congratulations message. Click the Finish button to continue. You will be prompted to restart Outlook 2013 for this new account to register.
Once you restart Outlook, you will see your new account and your email will be imported.
When Outlook 2013 restarts you may get a Windows Security dialog box asking for your username and password. Just enter the same info you just entered into Outlook and you’re good to go.

Download Outlook For Office 2013
Sometimes, when you try to automatically add an account to Outlook 2013, things just don’t go well. The wizard fails, leaving you with a
feeling that something is wrong with your email account or worse yet, with you personally!
Don’t let it get you down. Outlook 2013’s manual account setup to the rescue! You can easily input account settings for basically any email account using a few simple steps.
You will need the following information to continue:
- Email address you would like to add.
- The password for the account you are adding.
- The POP3 or IMAP incoming server.
- The SMTP outgoing server.
- Whether or not your account uses SSL.
- If your account uses outgoing mail authentication.
I know, some of that sounds somewhat imposing and possibly scary. Don’t give up now, though. Just about every email service online lists all
this information on a help page. You can Google the correct setup information by searching for: “Name of your email service provider” +
“outlook email setup”.
Start manual setup the same way you started the automatic method. Go to the FILE tab on the Outlook 2013 Ribbon and click Add New Account.
The same window will appear, but this time, click the radio button next to Manual setup or additional server types. This will bring up the manual account window.
How To Download Outlook 2013 From Microsoft
Here, select the type of account you would like to add. The most common option is POP or IMAP. This is how the majority of email accounts like Gmail, Yahoo mail, Hotmail, and others work.
The screen that appears now is where you enter all that information you prepared. If you need to use SSL or outgoing authentication, go to More Settings to get those set up.
To turn on outgoing authentication, click the Outgoing Server tab and check the box at the top of the window. The settings here need to match what your email provider gives you, just make sure they match perfectly.
SSL can be turned on in the Advanced tab. Using Gmail as an example; both incoming and outgoing SSL must be used. To turn SSL on for each, just select SSL from the drop-down boxes and make sure the Server Port Numbers are correct.
Click the OK button when you’re finished with these settings, and click Next to test them. If you input the settings correctly, you will see all green checks in the window. Click Close to continue.
This completes manual setup of your email account in Outlook 2013. As you can see, the hardest part of the process is getting the information from your email provider. After that, Outlook 2013 makes it pretty painless.
